Fintech Valley: Israeli firms shine at India’s $1 million startup challenge

Israel has an unwavering eye on the future and is a giant in the global tech startup scene. Promising startups embraced the $ 1 Million Challenge, a Govt of Andhra Pradesh, India initiative as part of the Vizag Fintech Festival

Tel Aviv: Global startup challenge roadshow, AP $1 Million Global Challenge this week held its Israel event at Rise Barclays, a local hub for startups. More than 130 startups applied for the challenge and went through a screening process.

More than 250 delegates participated from Banks, corporates, startups, and investors

  • Over 20 finalist startups pitched in the areas of FinTech, AgriTech and EmergeTech areas
  • Roadshow continues to Hong Kong on Sep 27th 2018 as part of global roadshow in 8 cities including London, Paris, Hong Kong and Bangalore
  • Winners will be awarded seed funding and incubation facilities at Vizag Fintech festival on October 22 – 26, 2018

Vizag FinTech festival is a global innovation event to bring together an eco system of new generation of innovation partners, incubators and corporations from around the world. Andhra Pradesh, a gateway to digital India is promoting entrepreneurship by giving access to 5 Ms – Money, Market, Mentoring, Manpower and Meetups.

“Banks, financial services companies and governments in India are going digital. This provides an immense opportunity for the global technology startups to access fast growing India market and AP will be the Gateway ”, said Mr JA Chowdary, IT Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The AP $1 Million startup challenge delegation included Mr JA Chowdary, Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dharmendra Sunkara, CEO of AP FinTech and Aneesha Chowdary, General Manager, AP FinTech.

The event was organized by DCF Ventures headed by Lakshmi Potluri partnering with Axis Innovation headed by Edward Frank.

The following Startups pitched in front of a panel of judges and investors:

Fintech: Biocatch, Clarus, ConfirmU, Coriunder, Fincom, InvioU, OKO Finance, PayGilant, Rewire, Verifyoo

Agritech/Emergetech : Agro-scout, AirGreen, BeeHero, Bio-cloud, BioFishency, Cultivu, Forest Innovations Ltd, Grofit, Sailog, Tapreason.

Judges included prominent members of the Tel Aviv startup ecosystem including Elan Zivotofsky, Avivhay Nissenbaum, Kevin Baxpehler, Blake Korman, Irad Dor, Roi Ben Daniel, Gadi Toren, Jack Levy, Eilat Cohen Basat, Dr, Michal Vakrat Wolkin, Agmon Porat, Ori Israely and Or Shinhertz.
