THE IDEA

What problem is the startup/business solving?

Creating professional-quality AI music requires specialised tools and expertise, making it slow and expensive for content creators who need rapid iteration and original tracks without licensing constraints.

MiniMax Music 3.0 solves this by generating high-quality audio from text prompts.

THE FOUNDER’S STORY

When and how did you come up with the idea for the business?

I came up with the idea when I noticed that content creators, especially those working on short-form video and social media content, were spending hours searching for royalty-free music or paying expensive licensing fees.

The availability of large language models and audio synthesis technology made it possible to generate original music from text descriptions, and I wanted to build a tool that made this accessible to non-musicians and small teams.

WHO IS THE CUSTOMER?

What is the typical profile of your target customer? Where would they be located?

The typical customer is a content creator or small marketing team producing short-form video content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.

They are located globally but concentrated in North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

They need original, royalty-free background music that matches the mood and pacing of their visual content without the overhead of a music licensing subscription.

LESSONS TO SHARE

What three key lessons from your startup journey would you like to share with aspiring entrepreneurs?

  1. Validate before scaling — Validate your core use case with real users before scaling features.
  2. Let users compare — Audio quality perception is subjective, so build review workflows that let users compare variants rather than relying on a single output.
  3. Make licensing clear — Content creators care about licensing clarity as much as audio quality, so make the rights model transparent from the start.
