THE IDEA: What is the problem being solved by your startup / business?:

We are solving the problem of Human Wildlife Conflict, commonly experienced in Asian countries because of rich biodiversity.

Our product, ANIDERS, is helping farmers save their crops from wild animal like elephants, wild boar and nilgai, while ensuring the safety of these animals and the farmer.

Our product, Smart Stick Forester is specially designed for forest rangers, officers, forest guards, and other wildlife protectors who patrol the dense forest unarmed, constantly at risk of being attacked by wild animals.

Our solutions are solving problems that were thought to be unsolvable.

THE FOUNDER’S STORY: When and how did you come up with the idea for the business?:

As tourists, we regularly visited this small village, called Kyari, near Jim Corbett National Park. Being wildlife enthusiasts, we became fascinated by how many wild animals, like Elephants and deer, one could spot even in a small village at the outskirts of a reserved forest.

In no time we fell in love with the vibe and people of this village. There were stories of adventure and struggle everywhere- adventures of how villagers would encounter tiger while on their way to work and struggles of how villagers would strive to protect their crops from getting damaged by wild animals like elephants, deer or wild boar.

Many farmers had left farming and shifted to cities because farming was no longer viable for them. Villagers suffered huge losses, and there were no solutions readily available. We took it upon ourselves to do something for these farmers. We recognised that age old ineffective practices were being used because of lack of innovation. in this sector.

That is when we came up with the idea of ANIDERS, and our journey as Kyari Innovations began. Since then we have launched various versions of ANIDERS and launched another product called Smart Stick, specially catering to the needs of people associated to wildlife protection.

WHO IS THE CUSTOMER: What is the typical profile of your target customer? Where would they be located?:

Our customers are forest department of India, farmers and people related to wildlife protection and agriculture.

LESSONS TO SHARE: What 3 key lessons from your startup journey you’d like to share with aspiring entrepreneurs?:

1. Find a gap in the market, look for underserved segment and make a solution to cater to those customers.
2. Launch with an MVP. Never wait for the product/solution to get perfect before launch.
