Food ordering app Zomato this week announced the launch of Zomato Piggybank — a reward points program for loyal users of the food delivery service. According to the company, the concept behind the new feature involves rewarding its users as well as donating to others.
With Zomato Piggybank, each time you order online using the app, 10% of your order value will be credited back as Z Coins into the your account’s ‘Piggybank.’ You can use these to pay the 10% of the value of your next order placed at any Zomato restaurant partner. Users will also be getting Z Coins in their Piggybank when they use their Piggybank coins for an order. Additionally, Zomato will be donating Re.1 from each order to Akshaya Patra Foundation.
If you can’t immediately find the feature on your app, don’t be surprised. It is being rolled out in a phased manner and initially only 10,000 Android users be getting it. According to Zomato, these users will be selected “based on their loyalty and geographic availability of partner restaurants.” Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said in his blog post that users will be given 200 Z coins worth Rs 200. He added that in the next few weeks, Zomato will be extending this membership program to all its “loyal food ordering users” in the country.
What makes Zomato’s Piggybank feature more tempting is the fact that it is valid along with any other offers running on the food ordering app.
If you want to be one among these loyal users, you have to place more than 5 orders per month. But if you are a Zomato Gold customer, you needn’t worry as you’ll be getting an early access to the feature.
Those who don’t see the feature on their app and also are not a Zomato Gold customer will need a referral code to get the app’s access. A good reason to get the referral code in case you want to avail the benefits of Zomato Piggybank is that two months from now, it will be paid. Zomato has said that users will have to get it as a paid subscription at Rs 299 per year.
