1. Define the Challenge

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when it comes to goals setting is not identifying the challenges that will face them in the journey to achieving their goals.

There are three characteristics that define challenges that you should identify when setting your goals. They are challenges based on personal growth, obstacles that impact your results, and obstacles that are associated with resources.

An objective goal is something that is measurable. In the same way, a subjective goal is something that is deeply rooted in your passions and personal growth.

Take, for example, a job seeker whose goal is to gain employment and earn more income. While you are setting your goal, you need to determine whether or not you need to use the typical objective system or whether you should use the subjective system.

In general, the objective system is based on the requirements of the job market. Therefore, if the job market has a requirement of six months of experience and you have six months of experience, it means that you can meet that objective.

This would eliminate the need for you to focus on your skills and experience because you would meet the requirement. However, the subjective system would require you to understand your unique value to the company. In this case, if you are an expert in social media, you may be required to have an internship. In addition, the question of whether or not you can work for the organization because of the passionate nature of your passion could be an issue.

Once you have decided on the 10 categories that you will be measuring and based on your score, you will know whether or not you are on track to achieving your goal. Therefore, if your score is high, then you can increase the steps that you will be taking to achieve your goal.

7. Utilize the Right Tools

Another key that you need to consider when setting goals is whether or not you will be using the right tools to measure your results. As a final example, if you want to increase the number of customers that you are converting, you will need to use the right conversion tools to measure your goal.

If you choose to use Google Analytics or a similar conversion tool, then it will tell you whether or not you are meeting your goal. However, if you chose to use a manual conversion tool, then you will need to manually check if you are meeting your goals.

8. Consider the Impact on People

It is important to consider the impact of setting your goals on the people that you know. For example, if you want to increase your profits, it is possible that some people that you know will lose their jobs. Therefore, it is important to consider this situation before you set your goals because if your goal causes the loss of employment, then you may be better off not setting the goals in the first place.
